For the first time, HPE combined HPE Discover with the Aruba Atmosphere event, taking attendee levels to a new record of more than 14,000.

Read on for highlights from all three conferences.

New AI Partnership Creates NVIDIA AI Computing By HPE Portfolio

The Generative AI (GenAI) wave is coming, and HPE’s focus is on making it as easy as possible for customers to consume AI with right-sized solutions.

HPE announced their partnership with NVIDIA to create AI solutions for enterprises to adopt GenAI more quickly with the new NVIDIA AI Computing by HPE portfolio.

Among their key offerings is HPE Private Cloud AI, co-developed with NVIDIA and providing deep integration of NVIDIA AI computing, networking, and software with HPE’s AI storage, compute, and the HPE GreenLake cloud.

The HPE Private Cloud AI turnkey offering is available in four right-sized configurations (think S, M, L, and XL) to support a broad range of AI workloads and use cases, enabling organizations to develop and deploy GenAI applications.

Mark McCully, Director of Modern Data Center Engineering at Sayers, says:

“AI is use case-driven. The faster we can help organizations identify their use cases, the faster they can drive their own internal AI revolution.”

Advancements In HPE Compute And Storage

Aging hardware servers perform only a small percentage of the compute work in data centers, but they consume the majority of data center power. The hidden costs of old servers include:

  • Wasted power and space
  • Lack of latest security features
  • Wasted time with old, less efficient management tools and managing more servers than necessary
  • Difficulty in keeping up with OS updates

In one example, moving from an HPE ProLiant Gen8 server to a Gen11 with the resulting server consolidation creates up to 90% power savings per year.

On the storage front, HPE has announced the Alletra MP Timeless Program, a subscription service for Alletra MP controller upgrades and hardware refreshes in the hot mid-market storage line space.

HPE’s new Timeless program is similar to Pure Storage’s existing Evergreen subscription program, both of which avoid the need for a forklift upgrade of your storage environment.

HPE also has fully integrated OpsRamp, which they acquired in 2023, into their GreenLake edge-to-cloud platform. OpsRamp provides intelligent observability of the virtual and physical infrastructure  in your hybrid cloud environment, including third-party networking devices, so you can detect and correct malfunctions proactively

The OpsRamp network observability offering includes a suite of network performance management, network configuration management, and network topology management tools.

Among the OpsRamp enhancements is a new AI Operations Copilot that not only analyzes large datasets but also transforms them into actionable insights through a GenAI conversational assistant.

HPE Virtualization Coming With HPE Private Cloud Business Edition

HPE generated a lot of buzz with the preview of their own open-source KVM hypervisor option at HPE Discover 2024. The new virtualization capability for HPE GreenLake has an expected initial release in the second half of 2024 as part of the HPE Private Cloud Business Edition.

The offering will include highly available virtualization tightly integrated with HPE hardware, software, and services, with cost savings through optimized use of virtualized resources.

The new HPE virtualization capability delivered by HPE GreenLake offers customers greater choice and supports the high performance and availability requirements of enterprise workloads.

HPE GreenLake Expands Platform Capabilities To Manage Hybrid Cloud

HPE announced several expanded platform capabilities of the HPE GreenLake cloud, providing a single cloud operating experience for multiple services through the GreenLake management platform.

Whether you want to manage your private cloud as a service, access a wellness dashboard and support hub, or launch data services including data backup as a service, the HPE GreenLake cloud platform simplifies hybrid cloud management with a single control plane.

HPE Aruba Networking Central Combines SASE And SSE

HPE Aruba Central unifies cloud-native network management and automation across branch, remote, campus, data center, and IoT networks.

The company has supercharged HPE Aruba Networking Central with GenAI to improve operational efficiency for wired, wireless, and SD-WAN deployments.

New AI-enabled networking features include AI for IT Operations (AIOPs) to help identify network, security, and application performance issues, and to eliminate many manual troubleshooting tasks.

HPE Aruba presented Aruba Networking Central as a one-stop shop combining SASE and Security Service Edge (SSE) for zero-trust network access (ZTNA), secure web gateway (SWG), cloud access security broker (CASB), and digital experience monitoring, all in a single, unified platform.

Pure//Accelerate 2024 Recap

Pure Storage made several announcements at Pure//Accelerate about innovations in the Pure platform to address AI and cyber resiliency.

Pure has had SafeMode for immutable storage snapshots in place for several years, as well as other security software and features. The company has expanded some features of their Evergreen//One storage-as-a-service platform and added AI capabilities and SLA guarantees.

Pure also announced Pure Fusion, a first-of-its-kind storage automation platform.

For example, if you have a large fleet of Pure Storage arrays in your environment, this storage automation platform can push out various policies across your fleet with cloud-like efficiency and agility.

As part of improvements to Pure’s Evergreen//One consumption-based as-a-service model, operation costs are now included for organizations of all sizes. Pure will pay for your power and rack space with an Evergreen subscription.
